Additional Features
Tokenization of Credentials
Use Moneris Checkout to store a cardholder's credentials in the Moneris Vault and receive a token that represents those credentials for future transactions. You can also use Moneris Checkout to update the credentials associated with an existing token.
To tokenize credentials in Moneris Checkout transactions, select Tokenize Card in the Merchant Resource Center. To update existing tokens, select Vault Update Card.
For more information, see the Merchant Resource Center documentation available for download here.
Tokens and Pay by Token
When tokenization is enabled, Moneris Checkout allows returning customers to select stored payment cards on the payment page. To display stored cards, the cards must already be tokenized and stored in the Moneris Vault, and must be referenced in the Preload request.
In the Preload request, Moneris Checkout accepts up to three token entries, each represented by a data key and issuer ID pair for a card stored in the Moneris Vault.
For more information about these fields, see the Preload Request API Reference.
Fraud Tools
About Fraud Tools
Several tools to mitigate the risk of fraud are available for transactions in Moneris Checkout, including:
- AVS
- CVD
- 3D Secure
- Kount
To choose which tools to apply to Moneris Checkout transactions, go to the Moneris Checkout configuration in the Merchant Resource Center, under Payment Security.
For more information, see the Merchant Resource Center documentation available for download here.
Note:
CVD is always enabled and is applied to every Moneris Checkout transaction request. You can choose whether Moneris treats the CVD result as a mandatory or optional factor when approving or denying the transaction.
Kount as a Fraud Tool in Moneris Checkout
If you enable Kount as a fraud tool in Moneris Checkout and your company has its own Kount Enterprise account, include your Kount Merchant ID, Kount API key, and Kount Website ID when you configure your Moneris Checkout store in the Merchant Resource Center.
For Kount Enterprise users with 3DS enabled, Moneris sends the following User Defined Fields (UDFs). Depending on your Kount profile, additional Kount-side configuration may be required for risk inquiries to use this data.
Kount UDFs for 3DS
---
ECI
CAVV
THREEDS_TRANS_STATUS
THREEDS_TRAN_STATUS_REASON
THREEDS_MESSAGE
THREEDS_TRANSACTION_ID
THREEDS_VERSION
CHALLENGE_PERFORMED ("TRUE/FALSE")
Note:
3DS UDF data is sent to Kount only when 3DS
transStatusisY,A,U, ornull. Some 3DS errors (for example, an invalid cardholder name) can result in anull3DStransStatus.3DS UDF data is not sent to Kount when 3DS
transStatusisNorR.
For Kount Essentials merchants using the Moneris-defined fraud service package with 3DS enabled, no additional changes are required. Moneris and Kount manage the UDF data on your behalf.
Fraud Tools and Auto Decision-Making
Moneris Checkout can be configured to automatically proceed with or deny transactions based on risk assessments from the selected fraud tools.
When you enable Auto Decision-Making, you can choose whether each fraud tool's analysis is treated as an optional or mandatory factor in the approval decision.
This behavior applies to all fraud tools except:
- 3-D Secure, which is always mandatory when enabled
Window Size
You can customize the Moneris Checkout window displayed in the customer's browser, including how much of the browser viewport it occupies.
By default, Moneris Checkout is displayed full-screen and fills the entire page. You can change this behavior to a windowed view. If you do not use full-screen mode, define the size of the container <div> used for Moneris Checkout.
Configure window sizing and related display settings in the Merchant Resource Center.
Multi-Currency Pricing
You can configure Moneris Checkout to price goods and services in multiple foreign currencies while continuing to receive settlement and reporting in Canadian dollars.
To use Multi-Currency Pricing (MCP) in Moneris Checkout transactions, enable the Multi-Currency Pricing option in the Merchant Resource Center. MCP is available only for Visa and Mastercard.
If Multi-Currency Pricing is enabled, the following features are not supported:
- Recurring Billing
- Gift Cards
- 3DS Secure
- Google Pay
- Apple Pay
- Konek
For more information, see the Merchant Resource Center documentation available for download here.
Installments by Visa
You can configure Moneris Checkout to display installment plan offers to cardholders. These offers allow you to receive full funding for the transaction in a single payment, while the cardholder repays their issuing bank in installments.
For transactions with a minimum amount of $100, Moneris Checkout checks eligibility when the customer enters card details, using a lookup to the Installments by Visa service. For eligible cards, the checkout iframe displays up to three installment options, including monthly payment amount, number of months, and the Annual Percentage Rate (APR) charged by the issuing bank. The cardholder can review and accept the plan terms and conditions.
Installments by Visa is available only for select issuers within the Visa, Mastercard, and Amex card networks.
When a customer uses Installments by Visa for a transaction, the following features are automatically disabled:
- Gift Cards
- Digital wallets such as Google Pay, Apple Pay, Konek or Multi-Currency pricing
To use Installments by Visa in Moneris Checkout transactions, enable the Installments by Visa option in the Merchant Resource Center. For more information, see the Merchant Resource Center documentation available for download here.
Apple Pay support on Third-Party Browsers
In third-party browsers, customers complete Apple Pay checkout by scanning a code with an iPhone or iPad. Compatible browsers require WebSocket support and a device running iOS 18+ or iPadOS 18+.
Based on Apple documentation for cross-origin frames, Apple Pay with checkout_v3.00.js is not supported in Safari versions earlier than 17.
